Best Live-in Care in Devon Compared

Choosing a live-in care provider is one of the biggest decisions many families will ever make. If you're looking at the options available in Devon, you may be asking yourself, Which providers operate locally? Who will oversee the care? Which service can I trust to support someone I love?
Devon presents some particular challenges when arranging care at home. Families may be comparing providers covering larger towns such as Exeter, Torquay and Barnstaple, as well as services able to reach smaller villages and more rural communities. The way a provider recruits Caregivers, manages travel, arranges replacement cover and maintains local oversight can therefore be just as important as its headline price or review score.
To help make your search easier, we've compared some of the leading live-in care providers serving Devon, including local businesses, franchise offices and national organisations. Rather than telling you which provider to choose, our aim is to present the facts so you can make an informed decision that's right for your family.
The information in this guide has been gathered from publicly available sources, including CQC inspection reports, homecare.co.uk, Trustpilot, Glassdoor, Indeed and providers' own websites. For each provider, we've looked at how its service is managed, the care it offers, customer feedback, pricing where available and other key details that families often want to compare.
How We've Compared the Best Live-in Care Providers in Devon
We've included providers that families are likely to come across when researching live-in care in Devon. Some have local Devon offices and management teams, while others deliver care across the county through a centrally managed national service.
Each provider has been assessed using the following criteria:
- Regulation and oversight, including the relevant CQC registration and rating
- Services offered, such as dementia care, companionship and complex care
- Reviews and recognition, including homecare.co.uk, Trustpilot and Glassdoor
- Coverage across Devon and surrounding areas
- Published pricing, where available
- Care model, including whether the service is fully managed, franchised or introductory
Information is correct as of August 2026. Review scores, prices and CQC information may change, so families should confirm the latest details directly with each provider.
Best Fully Managed Live-in Care Providers in Devon
These providers deliver regulated care and take responsibility for arranging and overseeing the service. However, their operating structures differ. Some manage care through a central national team, while others use local franchise offices or regional Care Managers.
Trinity Homecare

Trinity Homecare is a national, fully managed live-in care provider with an Outstanding CQC rating. It provides live-in care in Devon through its wider regional and national structure, although it does not currently list a CQC-registered Trinity Homecare branch physically based in Devon.
- Ownership & Model: Trinity Homecare is a group-owned, fully managed provider rather than a franchise or introductory agency. Its national live-in service is operated within Trinity Homecare Group through Berkeley Home Health Limited. The group also includes several other care brands and regional businesses.
- Branches & Team: Families in Devon access Trinity's live-in care through its wider national service rather than a standalone Devon office. Care is coordinated by central and regional teams, including Care Managers, care coordinators, recruitment teams and an on-call service. The group's Bristol and Somerset operations provide a regional presence in the wider South West, but these are not Devon CQC locations.
- Coverage: National coverage, including Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Barnstaple and other parts of Devon, subject to Caregiver availability and the outcome of an assessment.
- Regulation & Oversight: Trinity provides a fully managed, CQC-regulated service. It is responsible for assessing needs, creating the care plan, matching Caregivers, monitoring the placement and arranging replacement cover. Families are supported by a Care Manager and can access an on-call service outside standard office hours.
- CQC Rating: Trinity Homecare's centrally registered Worcester Park service is rated Outstanding overall. Its May 2025 assessment awarded Good ratings for Safe, Effective and Responsive, and Outstanding ratings for Caring and Well-led. The registered service is based in Surrey rather than Devon, so the rating should not be mistaken for a Devon branch inspection.
- Services: Live-in care, visiting care, companionship, dementia care, palliative care, respite care, complex care and support following illness or a hospital stay.
- Reviews & Awards: Trinity Homecare Group holds a homecare.co.uk Group Review Score of approximately 9.7/10 from more than 270 reviews across its services. Its main Worcester Park service has previously held a score of approximately 9.8/10. Awards include Best for Live-in Care Expertise at the Home Care Awards 2026 and a homecare.co.uk Top 20 Home Care Group Award for 2026.
- Employee Feedback: Glassdoor holds a rating of approximately 4.6/5 from more than 40 reviews. Positive themes include the organisation's values, supportive colleagues and opportunities to develop. As with most care employers, experiences can vary between roles, locations and management teams.
- Pricing: Trinity explains that live-in care costs depend on the person's needs, location and the complexity of the support required. It does not currently publish a clear standard weekly starting price specifically for Devon. Families receive a personalised quotation after an assessment and should ask whether Caregiver travel, food, additional breaks and bank holiday charges are included.
The Good Care Group

The Good Care Group is a fully managed national live-in care provider rated Outstanding across all five CQC inspection areas. It serves families in Devon using a centrally registered service supported by regional Care Managers rather than operating a separate CQC-registered Devon branch.
- Ownership & Model: The Good Care Group is a group-owned, centrally managed provider rather than a franchise or introductory agency. The regulated service is operated by The Good Care Group London Limited, with GCG Intermediate Ltd recorded within its wider ownership structure.
- Branches & Team: The company operates one centrally registered live-in care service supported by national and regional teams. Families in Devon are allocated regional care management support rather than being transferred to a locally owned franchise. A dedicated Care Manager or Regional Care Manager supports the client, family and Caregivers throughout the placement.
- Coverage: National live-in care coverage across England and Scotland, including urban and rural parts of Devon.
- Regulation & Oversight: The Good Care Group directly recruits, employs, trains and manages its Caregivers. It completes assessments, develops care plans, oversees delivery, carries out reviews and provides access to clinical expertise and 24-hour support. The provider says its Care Managers support relatively small client portfolios so they can remain closely involved.
- CQC Rating: Rated Outstanding overall, with Outstanding ratings for Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led. Its latest full inspection report was published in April 2019. CQC reviewed available information in July 2023 and did not identify a need to reassess the rating at that time. The registered service is based in London rather than Devon.
- Services: Live-in care, dementia care, Parkinson's care, complex care, palliative care, respite care, rehabilitation support and companionship.
- Reviews & Awards: The provider's homecare.co.uk listing holds a score of approximately 9.6/10 from around 20 reviews. It won Home Care Provider of the Year at the HealthInvestor Awards 2026, following earlier wins in the same category in 2018, 2020, 2021 and 2025.
- Employee Feedback: Glassdoor holds a rating of approximately 4.6/5 from more than 400 reviews. Common positive themes include support from Care Managers, training, communication and the opportunity to build strong relationships with clients. Some reviews also discuss the intensity of live-in placements and the importance of a suitable client match.
- Pricing: Weekly pricing is based on an assessment and is intended to cover the arrangement, delivery and management of care. homecare.co.uk has listed live-in care from approximately £1,795 per week. More complex support, couples care, additional Caregiver cover and bank holiday periods may cost more.
Home Instead

Home Instead delivers live-in care in Devon through a network of independently owned franchise offices. This gives families access to local teams, but ownership, CQC ratings, prices and service arrangements can differ between one Devon office and another.
- Ownership & Model: Home Instead is an international franchise network. Its UK brand forms part of Honor Technology, Inc, but individual Devon offices are operated by separately owned local companies. These franchise businesses are responsible for their own CQC registration, Care Professionals, local management and service delivery.
- Branches & Team: Home Instead lists several local services covering Devon. Relevant offices include Exeter & East Devon, Tavistock & Tamar Valley and South Devon. There are also Home Instead services covering areas such as North Devon. Each office has its own directors, office team and Registered Manager, so families should confirm which legal provider and CQC registration will be responsible for their live-in care.
- Coverage: Coverage includes Exeter, Exmouth, Honiton, Sidmouth, Tiverton, Tavistock, Ivybridge, South Hams, Torbay and parts of North Devon. Exact boundaries and live-in Caregiver availability vary between franchises.
- Regulation & Oversight: Home Instead's live-in care is fully managed by the relevant franchise office. The local provider recruits and employs Care Professionals, completes assessments, develops the care plan, monitors delivery and supports the client and family. National brand standards and training resources are combined with local management and oversight.
- CQC Rating: Ratings differ by Devon office. Home Instead Tavistock & Tamar Valley is rated Outstanding. Home Instead South Devon, registered in Ivybridge, is also rated Outstanding. Home Instead Exeter & East Devon is registered from Clyst St Mary under Silver Lining Care Services Limited; families should consult its current CQC profile directly because the service moved from a previous Outstanding-rated registration and its current profile may not display the same historical rating in the same way.
- Services: Live-in care, visiting care, companionship, personal care, dementia care, respite care, overnight support, hospital-to-home support and help with daily routines.
- Reviews & Awards: The five Home Instead services listed in Devon collectively hold a homecare.co.uk Group Review Score of approximately 9.5/10 from more than 330 reviews. Exeter & East Devon holds a score of 10/10 from approximately 124 reviews, while Tavistock & Tamar Valley holds a score of approximately 9.9/10 from around 69 reviews. Home Instead received a homecare.co.uk Top 20 Home Care Group Award in 2026, and its Exeter & East Devon and Tavistock & Tamar Valley services were among Devon's 2026 regional Top 20 Award recipients.
- Employee Feedback: Home Instead's UK Glassdoor profile covers the wider franchise network rather than Devon alone. Ratings and comments should therefore not be assumed to describe every local franchise. Common positive themes include meaningful client relationships, flexible work and local team support. More mixed feedback concerns travel time, variable hours and differences between franchise owners.
- Pricing: Prices differ by franchise. Home Instead Tavistock & Tamar Valley is listed on homecare.co.uk with live-in care from approximately £1,850 per week. Exeter & East Devon publishes prices on request. Families should ask the individual office about Caregiver travel, rural mileage, food, bank holidays, overnight interruptions and whether supplementary visiting care is needed to cover daily Caregiver breaks.
Unique Senior Care

Unique Senior Care is a family-owned, independent provider offering fully managed live-in care across England. Its Devon service is overseen by a regional Care Manager, while its regulated live-in operation is run from the company's Outstanding-rated Solihull service.
- Ownership & Model: Family-owned and independently operated by Co-Founders Philip Wright-Howarth and Philip Maundrill. The regulated Solihull service is operated by Understanding Care (Warwickshire) Limited, which sits beneath Understanding Care (Holdings) Limited. Unique Senior Care is a fully managed provider rather than a franchise or introductory agency.
- Branches & Team: Although the live-in service is registered from Solihull, clients in Devon receive regional oversight rather than being supported solely through a remote call centre. Devon sits within the company's South Region and is overseen by a dedicated regional Care Manager. The wider team includes a Head of Live-in Care, Care Managers, coordinators, recruitment colleagues and an out-of-hours support service.
- Coverage: Live-in care across Devon and the rest of England, subject to the person's needs, home environment and Caregiver availability.
- Regulation & Oversight: Unique Senior Care completes an assessment, develops a personalised support plan and matches the client with a small team of consistent Caregivers. Each client has a dedicated Care Manager responsible for reviews, quality assurance and communication with the family. Care Managers support a maximum of 18 clients. Support includes a day-one introduction, a visit during the first week, four contacts or visits during the first month and ongoing reviews. Clients and Caregivers can also access 24/7 support.
- CQC Rating: Outstanding. The latest full inspection was published on 2021, with Good ratings for Safe, Effective and Caring, and Outstanding ratings for Responsive and Well-led. The registration is based in Solihull rather than Devon.
- Services: Live-in care, dementia care, respite care, palliative care, overnight care, support with physical disabilities, sensory impairment care and assistance following a hospital stay.
- Reviews & Awards: The Solihull service holds a homecare.co.uk score of 9.8/10 from 250 reviews. Unique Senior Care was named one of homecare.co.uk's Top 20 Home Care Groups from 2021 to 2025 and received two homecare.co.uk Top 20 Awards in 2026. The company has also received the Princess Royal Training Award three times.
- Employee Feedback: Glassdoor 4.7/5 from 65+ reviews. Common themes include supportive management, training, career development and access to senior leaders.
- Pricing: Live-in care starts from £1855 per week for an individual and £2310 per week for a couple. Assessments are free and there are no set-up fees. A £40 weekly food allowance may apply where the Caregiver is not included in the household food shop.
CareYourWay South Devon

CareYourWay began as a family-run care provider in South Devon and has since developed into a wider franchise network. Its original Devon service remains locally based and provides fully managed live-in and visiting care through its South Devon management team.
- Ownership & Model: CareYourWay was founded in South Devon in 2005 and describes itself as a family-run provider. The organisation has since expanded through a franchise network, but the Devon service is its established head-office operation rather than an independently launched franchise in another part of the country.
- Branches & Team: CareYourWay Devon is based near East Allington in South Devon. Care is arranged and overseen by its local management, care coordination and training teams. Its model differs from centrally managed national providers because the office responsible for the service is physically based within Devon.
- Coverage: South Devon and surrounding communities, including areas across the South Hams, Torbay and nearby parts of Devon. Families outside the core area should confirm whether their postcode can be supported.
- Regulation & Oversight: CareYourWay offers a fully managed, CQC-regulated service. It assesses needs, prepares the care plan, recruits and trains Caregivers and monitors ongoing delivery. The provider says families are kept informed when needs or circumstances change and that live-in care arrangements are reviewed and amended where necessary.
- CQC Rating: CareYourWay Devon should be checked under the legal provider and location responsible for the East Allington service. Families should use the CQC profile linked directly from the provider's website or request the current report, rather than relying on ratings attached to other CareYourWay franchises.
- Services: Live-in care, visiting care, companionship, dementia care, palliative care, respite care, personal care, overnight care and support for people with more complex health needs.
- Reviews & Awards: CareYourWay Devon holds a homecare.co.uk score of approximately 9.8 to 9.9/10 from more than 100 reviews. The wider CareYourWay group holds a score of approximately 9.7/10 from more than 330 reviews. Awards associated with the South Devon service include Best Live-in Care Provider, Live-in Care Services Provider of the Year, Best Palliative Care Provider, Domiciliary Provider of the Year and South West Home Care Services of the Year. The wider CareYourWay network also received a homecare.co.uk Top 20 Home Care Group Award in 2025.
- Employee Feedback: No sufficiently clear and stable Glassdoor rating attributable specifically to CareYourWay South Devon could be independently verified. Families and prospective employees should distinguish between reviews of the original Devon operation and reviews relating to newer franchise locations.
- Pricing: homecare.co.uk lists CareYourWay Devon live-in care from approximately £2,061 per week. The final price depends on needs and the care package. Families should confirm whether this includes the Caregiver's travel, food allowance, bank holiday rates, daily breaks and any additional cover required.

Introductory Agencies Providing Live-in Care in Devon
These agencies connect families with self-employed carers. They are not necessarily regulated by the Care Quality Commission in the same way as fully managed providers because their standard introductory services do not directly manage the day-to-day delivery of personal care.
Instead, the agency usually completes checks, introduces suitable carers and supports practical arrangements such as contracts and payments. The family and self-employed carer then take greater responsibility for agreeing the care, supervising the placement and managing any concerns.
While an introductory service may offer flexibility and a lower headline price, families should understand exactly where the agency's responsibility ends and their own begins.
Elder

Elder is one of the UK's largest introductory live-in care platforms. It uses a centralised digital service to connect families in Devon with self-employed carers and provides support with matching, payments, replacement introductions and regular check-ins.
- Ownership & Model: Elder is a digital-first introductory agency operated by Elder Technologies Limited. Rather than employing Caregivers and directing their work, Elder introduces clients to self-employed carers who provide the agreed support. Elder states that UK care regulators recognise its operation as an introductory agency.
- Coverage: Nationwide coverage, including Devon. Availability in rural areas depends on whether a suitable self-employed carer is willing and able to accept the placement.
- Services: Live-in care, short-term respite care, visiting care, hourly support, companionship and private care at home.
- Oversight & Support: Elder supports matching, carer payments, replacement introductions and service check-ins. Its screening includes an enhanced DBS check, identity and address evidence, right-to-work checks, professional references and an assessment of skills and character. Elder says approximately 2% of carer applicants are accepted onto its platform.
- Responsibility for Care: Under the standard introductory model, Elder does not employ the carer, create the family's care plan, prescribe how care should be delivered or directly supervise the carer's day-to-day performance. Families should establish who will assess risks, manage medication instructions, update the support plan and respond to concerns.
- Reviews & Awards: Elder had approximately 860 or more Trustpilot reviews at the time of research. Its overall rating was within Trustpilot's strong customer-rating range. Common positive themes include helpful matching support, responsive staff and the quality of individual carers. More mixed reviews discuss unsuccessful matches, changes of carer and differences between the platform's role and the family's expectations. Awards include Innovation in Home Care Tech at the Leaders in Care Awards 2025. Elder also states that Beauhurst named it the UK's leading AgeTech company in 2025.
- Employee Feedback: Glassdoor approximately 3.5/5 from more than 110 reviews and Indeed approximately 3.5/5 from around 45 reviews. Positive themes include flexibility, meaningful work and the ability to select placements. More mixed themes include job security, the availability of suitable placements and the support available when an arrangement becomes difficult.
- Pricing: Live-in care starts from approximately £1,210 per week. Elder states that its standard price includes a two-week trial and up to two wake-ups during the night, with no weekend or bank holiday surcharge, joining fee, deposit or long-term contract. Families should confirm what happens when needs exceed the standard package.
Curam

Curam is a digital care platform that connects families directly with self-employed carers. It also offers a separate managed care service for families who need formal care planning, coordination and regulated oversight.
- Ownership & Model: Curam is the trading name of Ecare Group Ltd and associated group companies. It operates a hybrid structure. Families can use its self-managed marketplace to engage a self-employed carer directly or select a separate managed service that provides greater oversight.
- Coverage: UK-wide, including Devon. As with other marketplace services, availability may be more limited in remote communities because carers decide which placements they are prepared to accept.
- Services: Live-in care, hourly care, overnight care, managed care, dementia support, post-operative care and support for people with more complex needs.
- Oversight & Support: Curam says carers joining its platform must normally have at least four years' professional UK care experience. Checks include an enhanced DBS, right-to-work verification, two current and relevant references, interviews, identity checks and video-call onboarding. It also uses biometric online vetting.
- Responsibility for Care: Under the self-managed model, the family chooses and contracts with the self-employed carer and remains responsible for agreeing and overseeing the arrangement. Under Curam's managed service, the provider can complete risk assessments and care planning, coordinate delivery, provide dedicated support and monitor information within a CQC-regulated framework.
- Reviews & Awards: Curam had approximately 610 to 612 Trustpilot reviews at the time of research, with an overall score between 4 and 4.5/5. Positive themes include ease of use, communication, prompt payments and flexibility. More mixed feedback concerns carer availability, account processes and the support provided when placements change. No prominent recent external corporate award was independently verified, although Curam operates its own Care Professional recognition programme.
- Employee Feedback: Indeed approximately 4.2/5 from eight reviews. Positive themes include a supportive office team, timely payment, control over rates and flexibility. The small number of reviews means the result should be treated cautiously. No clearly attributable and stable Glassdoor employer rating was verified.
- Pricing: Curam states that live-in care generally ranges from approximately £950 to £1,400 per week. Under its marketplace model, carers set or agree their rates directly with clients. The final price depends on the chosen carer, the level of support, location and whether a managed service is selected.
Country Cousins

Founded in 1959, Country Cousins is one of the UK's longest-established introductory live-in care agencies. It is now part of Trinity Homecare Group and introduces families in Devon to self-employed carers through a centrally managed matching service.
- Ownership & Model: Country Cousins operates through Country Cousins Homecare Agencies Ltd and forms part of Trinity Homecare Group. Its standard service is introductory, with self-employed carers matched to families by the agency's central team. Families seeking fully managed care can also be directed to its sister company, Trinity Homecare.
- Coverage: Nationwide coverage, including Devon. Its long-established network may provide access to carers prepared to work in different parts of the country, although availability in rural areas cannot be guaranteed.
- Services: Live-in care, advanced live-in support, companionship, night care, dementia support, disability care, respite and help with everyday tasks.
- Oversight & Support: Country Cousins carries out interviews, induction, professional reference checks, DBS or PVG checks, right-to-work verification and checks of professional development and training certificates. Applicants are expected to have at least six months' care experience and provide two professional references.
- Responsibility for Care: Carers work on a self-employed basis. Under the introductory model, the family retains greater responsibility for directing, supervising and reviewing the placement. Families should ask who documents the care arrangement, monitors medication support, responds to safeguarding concerns and arranges emergency cover.
- Reviews & Awards: Country Cousins had approximately 128 Trustpilot reviews and an overall rating of around four stars at the time of research. Positive themes include responsive office staff, suitable matching and continuity with regular carers. More mixed feedback refers to administration, communication and the additional responsibilities families retain under the introductory model. No clear standalone 2025 or 2026 corporate award for the Country Cousins brand was verified.
- Employee Feedback: Indeed approximately 3.1/5 from around 13 reviews, although a separate profile variation displayed a lower score. Positive themes include flexibility and appreciation from clients. More mixed themes include management, job security and career progression. A Glassdoor profile with a small number of reviews was identified, but a stable overall score could not be independently verified.
- Pricing: Live-in care starts from approximately £1,000 per week or £4,000 per month. Additional costs may include the agency fee, the carer's travel, food, bank holiday uplifts, waking-night fees and increased household utilities. Families should request a complete written illustration before comparing the price with a fully managed provider.

What to Consider When Choosing a Live-in Care Provider in Devon
Price and review scores are a useful starting point, but they don't tell the whole story. The best live-in care provider for one family may not be the best fit for another, so it's worth looking beyond the headline figures before making a decision.
Devon's geography is an important consideration. A provider may advertise national or county-wide coverage, but that does not necessarily mean it has a local office, local Care Manager or a large pool of Caregivers close to your relative's home. Ask where the person overseeing the care is based, how often they will visit and how quickly they could respond to a concern.
It is also worth asking how the provider manages replacement cover. In a rural community, arranging another suitable Caregiver at short notice may be more difficult than in a large town or city. Find out whether the provider has a dedicated replacement team, whether the family is expected to contact carers directly and what happens if the regular Caregiver becomes unwell.
The distinction between a fully managed provider and an introductory agency is particularly important. A fully managed provider normally employs, trains and supervises its Caregivers and remains accountable for the delivery of care. An introductory agency matches a family with a self-employed carer, leaving more of the day-to-day direction and supervision to the family.
Neither model is automatically right or wrong. What matters is understanding who is responsible for each part of the arrangement and choosing a level of support that feels manageable for your family.
When speaking to a provider, consider asking:
- Which CQC-registered service will be responsible for our care?
- Is there a Care Manager based in or regularly travelling to Devon?
- How often will the Care Manager visit and review the care?
- Who employs the Caregiver and who supervises their work?
- What happens if the regular Caregiver is unwell or unable to travel?
- How are Caregivers recruited, trained and matched to clients?
- Can the provider support a rural address, and are there additional travel charges?
- What is included in the weekly fee and what would cost extra?
- How are the Caregiver's daily breaks covered?
- Are night-time interruptions included or charged separately?
- Can the provider show reviews for the specific branch or service that will support us?
